Description
I have never seen a wild Snow Leopard but have studied them on several occasions in zoological parks. Nordens Ark in southwestern Sweden is part o f a breeding program for this species and other threatened animals. I spent 24 hours inside the park staying in a small cottage overnight. It gave me a chance to be alone with these wonderful cats during dusk and dawn and experience some rare moments. It was February and it was cold and snow on the ground, and I could at least imagine what it may look like to see Snow leopards, Amur tigers and Amur leopards in winter in the wild.
This watercolor was exhibited at Western Vision on National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, WY in September 2013.
