Wigeons is one of my favorite subjects to paint. Every spring in April I watch them on their northward migration and I try to capture their forms and coloration. The males strange combination of both warm and cold tones should not blend well together, but the overall effect is that of something exotic och very challenging for a painter. Their rotund shapes and the fact that they often feed walking in shallow water often creates beautiful images.

Bläsänder tillhör ett av mina favoritmotiv. Varje år i april och igen i augusti–oktober brukar jag försöka fånga deras fantastiska former och färger. Hanens toner är både udda och borde inte passa ihop, men på något vis blir helheten något exotiskt och måleriskt intressant. Deras runda former och det faktum att de ofta går i bukdjupt vatten skaper en speciell formkänsla som jag dras till.
